They do block out sunlight, but not 100% of it. I've been in hotels that have blackening curtains that make a room pitch black. These DO NOT do that. They darken the room but I can still see light through them. Too bad!

I recently ordered the curtains to block the sun. The were completely as advertised and blocked out the light nearly completely.
I would recommend this product.
Do be mindful if ordering the tan (color I received) that it is a bronze grommet.

These are super soft nice fabric and do the job, just make sure you read the measurements since they are a little short in width for one set of my sliding doors I will eventually buy another set to compensate.

We love our new blackout curtains. They do a great job of blocking out the street lights at night and the sun in the early morning. The chocolate color is a nice rich brown. The grommets slide easily along the rod. I think they would do a better job of reflecting back the heat from the summer sun if the outside surface were white or reflective. We have only been using them since March so the coming summer weather will be the test.

I am always concerned about buying things online since you cant get a great color shade judgement online and you cant feel the quality of the material. I dont usually write reviews but these were so wonderfully unexpected I figured they deserved a comment. I bought the brown colored curtains. They are a wonderfully soft thick material...they hang really well and feel super nice. We have a really bright street light right outside our window at night and have always struggled with blocking out that light. These are so wonderful (sigh...smile) that at night now you cant see your hand in front of your face in the bedroom. Love it. Love love love it! I do agree with a past review that the grommets should have been nickle. They are a brass color and dont look bad with the brown. I just like silver colored grommets better. That however will not stop me from buying these curtains for all the rest of the bedrooms in our house. Very pleased and would highly recommend.
